Opened in 2012, the sister establishment to the Lifeboat occupies the ancient, grade two listed former Saint Mary’s Chapel in Albion Street in Broadstairs. Famous as a second hand bookshop with a stock of over 30,000 titles, all this is combined with a full bar. The celebrated Chapel offers a heady mix of ale and draught Brewdog beers, a huge range of ciders, a choice of eight estate-bottled wines, Kentish mead, forty or so artisan spirits and Marley Coffee. For foodies we have the Kentish Menu of locally made pies, sausages, vegetarian tarts, fine British cheeses, Margate grown green salads and Ramsgate-landed seafood including crab, lobster, shellfish, smoked mackerel and Arbroath smokies. There is a full programme of entertainment with Acoustic Showcase every Monday, monthly Open Mic, Vinyl Club every Thursday, live bands on Wednesdays and Sundays, and cool vinyl DJ’s every Friday and Saturday. Just a stones throw from the magnificent Viking Bay, the Chapel is the ideal repair after a day on the beach, or in colder times to warm yourself in front of the wood-burning stove.
