The Black Pig Butchers, opened in 2014, is located in St George’s passage in the heart of Deal town centre and is owned by artisan butcher and sausage maker Lizzy Douglas. The Black Pig is all about locally sourced, free range meat and traditional handmade produce. The stock includes Aberdeen Angus beef from Coldred, salt marsh lamb and mutton from Seasalter, Whitstable, Oxford sandy and black pork and poultry from Faversham and occasionally venison and other game from the Stour valley. In the shop a large range of sausages, black pudding, haggis and dry cured products such as bacon, gammon and salt beef are made . Lizzy uses a variety of seasonal and foraged ingredients in her sausage recipes such as wild garlic and fennel from Deal beach and locally grown fruit and herbs.
